Client Reviews

From the people who visited

"I brought in a small vintage Seiko that had belonged to my mother. It had not run in years and I was nervous about leaving it anywhere. Nattawut took time to explain what the movement needed before asking me to agree to anything. The watch came back running correctly, and the service record they gave me was more detailed than I expected. I felt it was in the right hands."

"My diamond-set cocktail watch needed cleaning and I was anxious about anyone touching the stones. Rattana inspected every setting before starting and actually found one that was slightly loose — they called me before proceeding. That would not have happened everywhere. The watch looks wonderful and the whole experience was professional and calm."

"A straightforward service on my dress watch. They quoted me before starting, which I appreciated, and the price was the same on collection. It took about a week, which is reasonable. The watch keeps better time than it has in years. Slight delay at pickup because they were explaining another client's restoration, but I understand — that is exactly the kind of attention you want when it is your turn."

"I found Rattana while spending several weeks in Bangkok. My wife's watch needed a service and we were nervous about using an unfamiliar workshop. The assessment was thorough and they communicated every step clearly. We collected before leaving — it ran perfectly on the flight home. The written record they provided was a reassuring touch."

"I came with my grandmother's old Longines, which had not been opened in decades. They were honest that the mainspring would need replacing and explained why, which I appreciated over just adding it to the bill. The restoration took a bit longer than originally estimated because of sourcing a part, but they kept me updated throughout. It keeps time now. That is what matters."

"I had my mother's sapphire bracelet watch cleaned here. The setting inspection before cleaning is something I have not encountered at other workshops — they found one stone that was not quite secure and secured it as part of the service. The bracelet looks clean and the watch moves beautifully. Simple, professional, honest."

In More Detail

Three client journeys

Case Study — Heirloom Restoration

A 1960s Swiss ladies' watch, not run in fifteen years

The Situation

The client's mother had passed two years prior, and the watch had come to her with a box of jewellery. She was unsure whether it could run again and what it would cost. She came in for an opinion before committing.

What We Did

We assessed the movement and found the mainspring fatigued and the lubricants entirely dried out. The case was in good condition and the dial original. We quoted for a full service and replacement mainspring, discussed options for the crystal (she chose to keep the original), and she approved the work.

The Outcome

The watch was returned running within normal rate, with a full written record of the restoration. Timeline: twelve days. The client collected it, asked us to note in the record that it had belonged to her mother, and said she planned to leave it to her daughter one day.

"I did not expect to feel this moved collecting a repaired watch. They understood what it meant."

Case Study — Gem-Set Case Cleaning

A diamond cocktail watch — reluctant owner, unexpected finding

The Situation

An expat client had purchased a gem-set dress watch at a Bangkok estate auction. It looked good visually but had a slightly dulled case and bracelet. She was interested in cleaning but nervous about any polishing changing the character.

What We Did

Setting inspection under magnification revealed one loose stone on the bezel before any cleaning began — something she was unaware of. We secured it and cleaned the case and bracelet carefully. No polishing was carried out; she specifically wanted the natural wear retained. We noted all of this in the service record.

The Outcome

The watch was returned within five days, clean and with the loose stone secured. She said the pre-cleaning setting check had been the detail that made her confident in the whole service. She has since returned with two other pieces.

"Finding the loose stone before cleaning rather than after — that told me everything about how they work."

— Amelia T., Bangkok

Case Study — Ladies' Watch Servicing

When we advised against the work

The Situation

A client brought in a small quartz ladies' watch she had bought for a modest amount several years ago. It had stopped and she wanted a service. The assessment suggested a worn battery and minor movement issue.

What We Found

The movement had a cracked component that would require sourcing a part of uncertain availability. The cost of repair would have significantly exceeded the practical value of the piece. We explained this clearly and gave her the assessment in writing.

The Outcome

We did not carry out the repair. There was no charge for the assessment. The client thanked us for the honest advice, returned three months later with her mother's more significant piece, and has become a regular client. Honest assessments are part of what we do.
